The Every Single Day Project was born out of a desire to understand more about how people feel about practicing meditation on a daily basis. For this project, I am interviewing 50+ people by the end of 2017 about their desire to begin/restart/continue having a regular meditation practice. If you have the desire to begin a daily meditation practice, or if you once had a meditation practice that has become inconsistent, or if you are practicing meditation daily right now but have fallen off in the past, I want to learn from you.
Our conversation would be an opportunity for you to define what has inspired/encouraged you to practice meditation, as well as, the struggles you face around practicing meditation every day.
During our 30 to 45-minute phone conversation, you share your experiences and I will listen. I’ll ask you questions like:
The scheduling calendar for these calls can be found below (or you can go there now.)
What happens to the interviews?
I would like to share patterns and insights that are revealed through this project with those involved and potentially beyond. In order to do this, I will be recording the phone calls to preserve your direct quotes and capture the entirety of your story as you provide it. Privacy and anonymity are important to me and I will not attribute direct quotes/insights to names in the materials that I share. I will be providing a monthly update to all those interviewed regarding insights and patterns that I am seeing emerge.
My story and why am I interested in studying the desire to meditate daily:
I initially practiced yoga/meditation because it felt like an escape. I continued to practice because it taught me to run towards myself rather than away. Over the past year and a half, I have been encouraged to meditate daily and it has had a profound impact on how I see myself in the world and how I see the world around me. I know what made the difference in my life, but I don't know if this is the case for others. I want to learn. Interviewing others feels like a natural way to understand how others navigate this path. I hope to capture diverse paths and inspiring experiences on the road to practicing meditation daily. Thank you for considering sharing your voice with me!

During our 30 to 45-minute phone conversation, you share your experiences and I will listen. I’ll ask you questions like:
- How would you describe meditation to someone who was new to the idea?
- Do you currently have a meditation practice? If so, what does your practice look like (e.g. frequency, amount of time spent practicing, techniques used etc.)
- Do you feel that there is an ideal meditation practice for you?
- Can you recall why/when you became interested in practicing meditation?
- Has anything hindered your meditation practice? If so, what?
- Has anything encouraged you to practice meditation? If so, what?
- Why do you meditate?
- What does your practice give you (or what do you notice is missing when you don’t practice)?
